When you open an account with us, you’ll be looked after by a team of people who know your sector – and the world of electricals – inside out. They have regular training, so they’re always completely up-to-date.
Our specialist Business Development managers can build bespoke, specialist products and services for you. Whenever you call, you’ll be dealing with UK-based staff.
30 day terms

Nationwide delivery and installation
We don’t just turn up at your organisation and leave a big box in reception. We take your new equipment to exactly where you need it, and if you want we can install it too. We can also arrange for commercial equipment to be professionally delivered and fitted.
If your old appliance is properly disconnected, we can take it away in the same visit.
For smaller items, we use a network of experienced courier companies, who all offer a first class service.

Getting you set up
We can deliver your new equipment and install it while we’re there.
When you buy, you just choose an installation or connection package. Then we get you up and running.
We make sure everything is working properly, and we talk you through the basic features. Then we tidy up. We can even take old appliances away for recycling.

Recycle your old appliances
Comet was one of the first major retailers in the UK to sign up to the Retail Compliance Scheme run by Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive.
We’d already been working with logistics firm Wincanton to develop a collection service. It was based on our delivery services, and used our established sorting centres. So it was pretty easy to extend this take-back service to cover all kinds of products.
Community recycling
And it didn’t stop there. We invested in local community recycling sites so that everyone – not just Comet customers – could recycle waste electricals. In 2007 we recycled more than 100,000 fridges, 300,000 laundry appliances and 15,000 TVs.
When we deliver, we remove all the packaging for recycling too. In 2008 alone, we recycled more than 2,300 tonnes of cardboard, 750 tonnes of EPS polystyrene, and 240 tonnes of plastic.
Awards
In 2005 we won the National Recycling Award for Best Partnership Project for Recycling.
And virtually all our own store and office waste, packaging and store signage is recycled.
Efficiency in the kitchen
All our kitchen appliances are rated for energy efficiency using the standard labeling scheme. The higher the grade – for example A+++ the better the energy efficiency is. It helps customers to choose an appliance that has less impact on the planet, reducing carbon emissions and saving energy and money.
The environment
Managing the social and environmental effects of our business is something we take very seriously. All our products are tested for safety, health and environmental compliance. And we work with our suppliers to help them reduce their impact on the environment, and to manage the challenges of sustainable growth.
In our own back yard
In February 2002 we introduced our own energy policy. We set out to reduce our overall consumption by 5% over five years. We ended up reducing it by 6%.
At the same time, we increased the number of Comet stores controlled by our eco-friendly Building Management System (BMS). At 102, that’s 40% of our stores. We’re continuing to roll out BMS in new and refitted stores, and reduce energy consumption throughout the business.
We’ve also installed energy efficient lighting throughout our Hull and Rickmansworth head offices.
Our green machines
Many of our 210 vans have curved roofs that boost fuel efficiency and cut back on emissions. Our green vans do 430 more miles for every tank of fuel compared to standard “flat” vans.
We’ve introduced Euro 4 and 5 engines in our vans, and our new Ecoflex car technology adds 15 miles to the gallon. All this has added up to a whopping 1500 tonne CO2 saving across the entire fleet in a year.
We’re also experimenting with fuels, as well as hybrid and dual fuel vehicles. And we’re trialling Letpia – a promising technology that improves fuel efficiency. All of which means we’re driving our greenest fleet ever.

If you’re using a domestic product in a commercial setting, the manufacturer’s guarantee may not apply.
So for extra peace of mind, we’ve created the ExtraCare Service Plan. It gives you:

Annual health check - call us up, and we’ll check that everything is still working properly. If necessary, we’ll send an engineer out to you.
New for old replacement - if fixing isn’t an option, we’ll replace it with a new equivalent product.
Nothing more to pay and no call out - the plan covers the cost of repairs, including parts, labour, callout and VAT. ExtraCare Business also steps in if your product stops working. The only thing the plan doesn’t cover is accidental damage.
Repairs
ExtraCare from Comet - our ExtraCare Service Plans are for both commercial and domestic customers. You get the same quick call outs, unlimited repairs and new for old replacement as an extended warranty.
You also get:
- Set-up helpline. You call and we talk you through the set up of your new equipment over the phone.
- Maintenance. Call us, and if we can’t solve the problem over the phone, we’ll send an engineer to visit.
- Annual health check. On the anniversary of the day you bought, just call us and we’ll make sure everything’s still working perfectly.
The plan covers both domestic and commercial premises. And if your business is VAT registered, you’ll be able to claim back the VAT from the price of the plan.
Investing in the future of repairs
Kaidara is our online repair and diagnostic tool. We’ve been feeding into its bank of information since 2007. It helps us to help our customers and engineers repair faults more quickly.
Kaidara now helps us to handle more than 6.5m service calls every year, and resolve 30,000 problems over the phone. It saves customers time and trouble over and over again. It’s also a great way for us to collect information about recurrent faults to give feedback to manufacturers.
More engineers, more training, better service – we invest 20,000 man-hours of training making sure our engineers are up to speed with the latest technologies and specifications.
